Breachstone bugged

I just used my first Breachstone and i was greeted with an empty map.
After running over the hand not a single monster spawned until the timer ran out, only after i was teleported back to the start monsters started spawning and the breach wave came back and closed it.

I seriously doubt that this is the intended experience of it.
