PC player - Platform Restriction

I continue to have an issue that it will not allow me to join other players from time to time for trading. I get the cross-platform restriction warning, I have checked to make sure that when I play on my xbox it is not restricted and you can't enable the restriction on PC. How can I stop this error from occurring?
