Inconsistencies with Scold's Bridle Unique Helm

Apart from other strange interactions already posted, I've noticed a consistent pattern for how this helm currently interacts with skills, and the self-damage inflicted.

As it reads: "Take #% of Mana Costs you pay for Skills as Physical Damage"

Regardless of what skill is used, the player will always take physical damage (as intended). However, the way this damage interacts with player recovery seems to be dependent on the type of skill used.

When using Projectile skills, such as Fireball, the Physical Damage taken from the helmet acts as a Hit, allowing the player to, say, use life recoup to counteract some of the damage taken.

However, when using Channeled skills, the damage seems to act similar to Sacrifice, where damage is taken, but it is not treated as a Hit. This prevents the damage taken from interacting with recovery methods such as recoup. This is consistent with multiple skills, namely Incinerate and Mana Tempest.

I have not tested this with Attacks, only Spells.

Whether this is a bug or working as intended, a patch or some clarification in the unique's description would be greatly appreciated.
