PoE 1 Constant Crashing Windows Error
My game has been constantly crashing since I updated my computer, Affliction league let me know the limits of my rig. The error is as follows:
Faulting application name: PathOfExileSteam.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x681abbcd Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.26100.3912, time stamp: 0x4400259f Exception code: 0xe0000001 Fault offset: 0x00000000000ca3ba Faulting process id: 0x5CF0 Faulting application start time: 0x1DBC3A533FCDB01 Faulting application path: G:\New folder\steamapps\common\Path of Exile\PathOfExileSteam.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\KERNELBASE.dll Report Id: 5d2a6934-d4a3-43a0-bb63-44f9e6855770 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: My computer specs are as follows: Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900K 3.20 GHz Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.7 GB usable) Device ID 1E7EBA82-203D-4C8C-93C1-1F99CD8AE7C9 Product ID 00330-80031-61731-AA505 System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display Edition Windows 11 Pro Version 24H2 Installed on 11/30/2024 OS build 26100.3915 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.83.0 I have spent hundreds taking it to professionals to troubleshoot for them to tell me that my rig is fine and that it is a windows error. I've done everything from underclocking, voltage limiting, temp file deleting, renderer changing, shader cache deleting, running application on windows compatibility mode for a different version, clean reinstall, verifying file integrity, driver updates, bios updates, ram updates, reverting windows updates, reverting graphics card updates, and more. I have played consistently since Scourge league and I can't play this game, or PoE 2, at all anymore. These two games are the ONLY, did I say ONLY, yes ONLY, games that this happens to me with. Is there something I'm missing? Does this game just not run on the latest version of windows? Do I actually need to install a new OS just to play this game? Is there ANY fix for this issue? " Please be more specific. When you upgraded your computer, which components were replaced? Did you perform a fresh installation of Windows afterwards, or did you try to continue using the previous one? Are there any patterns you can observe with the crashes? Such as an approximate amount of time after launching the game prior to a crash, or any clues a crash will soon occur such as decreasing FPS in the minutes leading up to one, or possibly your computer's fans becoming louder in the moments before a crash? Any of these could help us to narrow down the cause. " Unfortunately, this is not only generic but also misleading. I don't believe for a second that Kernelbase is actually responsible. " If you don't mind me asking... why is your Steam directory called "New folder" ? That's not the name the Steam application would give to the folder. " Could you please link us to a DxDiag report file on Pastebin? It would give us substantially more insight into your system, such as the graphics card you are using. GGG has never cared enough to bother creating their own support articles, but Aspyr has a step-by-step guide here if you're not familiar with the process of creating one. " Can you go into your BIOS and disable Turbo Mode for your CPU if it's active? " What, precisely, did you do here? Typically one would increase voltage to improve stability (thermal constraints permitting), as the processor, graphics card, and RAM each need to be given sufficient power to run at their set clock speeds. Saying you have tried "limiting" the voltage (of which components?) suggests you've done the opposite, which may exacerbate any problems you're having. " I play Path of Exile on a Win11 24H2 box, so it's not some broad compatibility problem between GGG's game engine & that version of Windows. Something else is going on here. Today… by divine decree… your patch of Excel, begins.
