Maybe its just me but seems like its been this way for years even in POE1 devs do not know how to balance skills and every time we end up with insert "Lightning skill" is over tuned.
Path of exile seems to have been balanced in this one particular way. Anything blue - good green- ok red - Avoid at all costs. Last bumped on May 10, 2025, 9:32:47 AM

Heh, the answer is simple: lightning skills deliver the damage faster. For spells, lightning has fastest projectiles or is a straight up hitscan cast. For ranged weapons, lightning revolves around forking to more targets. No slow ass ignites and freeze buildups. And in our new "meaningful combat" game, killing everything before they can use a single attack is the most viable tactics:)
In addition, lightning damage tends to have crit synergy nodes, further focusing on "just kill it quick", as does its ailment, shock. While fire and cold nodes revolve around their dot or debuffs. Last edited by Echothesis#7320 on May 8, 2025, 10:56:57 AM

At least top boss killers this league, rake, wind serpent's fury, flicker strike, are not really based on lightning dmg or skills.
