Character name expired

Just loaded up the game and both my characters names were replaced with a bunch of random letters, when I load my character it says character name expired. My original account # and name at the top right has no characters loaded on it and the account name with my originals characters is some weird duplicate with random letters

I don't recall a timeframe, but IIRC a few years ago GGG made it so people who had gone long enough without logging into the name had their character names available if anyone else tried to create a new character with them.
I believe it was months or years though, looking at your posting history it doesn't seem like you would be a candidate for it. (Unless it's bugged and only looking at POE1 logins, in which case things could get ugly for POE2 players soon if they don't fix it.) Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? |

" I was logged off for less than 24 hours. Then come back and my account I created had no saved characters and it put my characters in a different account with random letters for the name. Both my character names were gone and replaced with random letters which is when I got the message. I renamed my character to the name I had before but now I'm wondering if my account was hacked. |
