Unable to access Trial of Sekhemas with quest barya in inventory *edit (solved)

I beat Balbala earlier and got the quest barya which is still in my inventory yet the Trial of Sekhemas doesn't appear on desert map and when I join my friend who's character is in the trial I am not able to teleport as I am not in the required quest state. I saw online a couple things about not being able to get to the trail if you lose the quest barya or if you progress to far through the campaign without doing the trial or something but neither of those are the case for me as I still have the quest barya and I have not progressed in the campaign since beating Balbala.

pls help

*edit - Yes I did relog and still have the quest barya in my inventory and still can't get to the Trial of Sekhemas to ascend.

Since 0.2.0, you have to open the Halani Gates before you can progress the quest and travel to the Trial of the Sekhemas.

You're joking...
I got to the halani gates and got the waypoint but I didn't clear it.
What a stupid thing to add into the game what value does this provide at all.
