Instance crashed and deleted loot in inventory

I just played a unique map as first thing after the patch today. Loot drops seem markedly improved, but the instance crashed while I was in the map after I opened a portal and I could not TP out. There was loot on the ground and loot in my inventory. I exited to log in, after multiple failed attempts to rejoin I was able to get back in (less than 5 mins total), and my unique map portals were gone but more importantly the loot in my inventory was deleted.

This essentially always happens.

If the instance server crashes, then the server that’s aware of your loot has, well, crashed. To force a database write to “save” any important loot that drops, change zone. Once you’ve left the instance, nothing that happens afterward can result in the items being lost.
