How upset will metaslaves be when lightning spear gets nerfed?

The devs were quite clear the broken builds like sorc spark in 0.1 at not wanted and not part of the poe2 vision, the goal is to remove those builds from existence so people learn to play their own fun builds that arent about clearing the entire screen or one shotting max bosses.

We know that, we know what happened to spark sorc yet people now become extremely attached to lightning spear which we know for a fact that will be nerfed the ground in 0.3 like it deserves.

So even though this is an incredibly predictable situation, I can guarantee you there will be people SCREAMING about how they ruined poe2 because they cant clear entire screens anymore just like they were SCREAMING when ele sorc got nerfed.

This is a very predictable cycle yet instead of adapting to the poe2 vision and start playing normal average builds, they only play the most broken meta build and then complain about lack of build diversity.

There's plenty of builds to try, you can make your own too, you cannot complain about lack of diversity in a game like poe2 with so many choices and combinations because YOU CHOOSE to ignore everything and just play the most op build streamers told you is meta.

They whined before and they will do it again.
Devs just need to nut up and actually do this enough (with no consolation gifts that give them hope that maybe they didn't actually mean it) that they finally beat it into these people's heads.

This is i feel what happened during 0.1 when after launch they started nerfing mobs and everything and people thought the devs abandoned their vision and would instead just remake poe1

The 0.2 made it quite clear that poe2 vision is very different from poe1 and will remain so.

0.3 will likely cause the same upset.

As a new player to POE2 and to ARPG in generall i can say the way they handled Sorcerrer NERFs was really bad.

I understand the way SPARK was played and the scaling being too high was a problem.

But when i read the Patchnotes 0.2. it was, almost funny, how stupid the approach was.

There where around 14+ nerfs specificly targetting the SPARK and SORC in general.

I dont know why they nerfed it that way because they do a very bad job explaining.

All i can say is:

My Experience in 0.1 was very good. My experience in 0.2 was extreme bad.
From the first day untill lvl 87 in 0.2, i tried to play a spark or arc. (casually without builds etc.)

The way i struggled was just dissappointing. It was like playing a game on handicap.

The constant "out of mana" scream even tho i invested extremely in mana recovery and regen. Dealing no damage, having to improve gear in campaign way more than it should be. Fighting some bosses around 10-15 minutes in act 2-3 was hillarious. Especially when i was able to kill them later in cruelty and early mapping in seconds way too early.

The way they "nerfed" spark or sorc is just straight bad. You should not make something unplayable ( for casuals ) U have to take into account that peaple just play put points in get whatever gear and wounder why they can't do shit.

Dont be mistaken. I can get very nerdy and found a build wich worked almost good. But compared to any other build (yes in 0.2 after all of the nerfs) sorc is just terrible and stupid decisions made it way to unenjoyable.


Now imagine u play that and all around u are lightning spear builds that clear everything way better than a Sorc ever was able to do in 0.1.


Combine that with the ease to achieve that clear and the way u have to invest so much to achieve 10% of it with a sorc.

WHEN They nerf, they have to nerf in a way that the SEALING is capped, not the Campaign and early endgame.

First focus on QOL and game breaking bugs!
Than Nerf Sealing of broken build, adjust the accessibility of enabling unique, BUFF bad classes and get to a point where u have a lot more dmg and utility than u wanted.

THAN NERF Everything at same level slowly with a LOT of testing before release.

Constant weekly adjustments slow nerfs would help to get ppl less mad about their classes being nerfed if neccesary.

But if u make a broken build or rather SKILL/CLASS literarly unplayable u really do not need a lot IQ to get why that will backfire!

You really need weekly patches with at most SMALL nerfes and a lot of adjustments and tweaks.

Stop nerfing a thing in 8 diffrent ways without playtesting it.

Change Projectiles of spark or increase mana cost after lvl 30 and wait for the result.
Don't nerf 14+ aspects of a single abillity without improving something.
I build my own build but still felt its lack of build diversify.
If you want an idea to how players will react to huge, widespread nerfs - look at lack of players coming back when comparing the first 2 months of the game vs the launch of 0.2. They will simply find another game to play.
Meta was ok in the first hours / days of 0.2. Players were trying different stuff.

Then LS got overbuffed and is currently performing way above its paygrade.

We won't be "upset", we will just move on and be actually HAPPY that they brought a broken skill back in line.

I've seen this with Penance Brand of Dissipation in 3.23. Or exploding totem build in 3.21. Players weren't mad when these got nerfed hard. Players knew they were way too good.
bruh, they will endup satisfying the majority of the community needs "cries", they wont nut up cause it's not a battle, they need to make money at the end of the day and eventually poe 2 will be much similar to poe 1 if the majority wanted that. the game will improve later on but in a year or 2 not now as obviously they can't handle the rapid development they are promising. and i believe they will even bring back poe 1 crafting in an improved version, they just want new comers to buy all the quad tabs they need to collect white bases to do their so-called "crafting" lol

Blame GGG because they made game punishing for everything except screen clearing builds.

GGG made game where you have 40 mobs instantly jumping on you, regardless of how far they were when you engaged them.

GGG made game with non existent loot . No one wants to clear map for 20 minutes just to be rewarded with nothing.

GGG made game with most expensive items being locked behind insane systems , so playing screen clearing specs is the only option.

GGG made ascendancy trials hard enough as it is , imagine doing them with underperforming class/spec.

GGG made game with 1 life per map.

GGG made game with random instant oneshots out of nowhere , by white mobs.

GGG made game where one class attacks 10x in 1 second.

GGG made game where another class attacks 1x in 5 seconds.

GGG made dodge roll based ARPG .

GGG made game where they nerfed everyone's damage by 70% without even trying to balance stuff in order to compensate for damage loss. Nah , they just went '' cut Ice Monk's dps by 80% that's about it''

Its safe to say GGG has no clue what they are doing and PoE2 proves it.

But its ok. Titan Quest 2 is coming soon, then D4 expansion...lots of stuff to look forward to.
