I really tried to be optimistic about PoE 1

...but then GGG drops "private league templates" that are just 3.25 but with specific mechanics happening more often -- i.e. no content that isn't already present in Settlers.

And I also hear that another PoE dev has left GGG.

Like, come on. There's no way to spin this in an optimistic way. GGG seems to be quadrupling down on killing PoE 1 despite just about everyone being against it.

I really want to play a good, PoE like ARPG that still gets updates. I've heard good things about LE but EHG's approach to not allowing forum access until you commit 34€ to the game puts me off.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, don't private leagues cost money? If so, great way to rake in some revenue from an otherwise neglected game. Spend it well. =9[.]9=

Most people expected GGG to release templates that aren't just Settlers with a slight modification, though. Maybe bringing back some mechanics from older leagues. As you said, they cost Points and Points cost money, so it would be a no-brainer for them to make the templates different than the league we've already had for more than a year so more people would pay them.

D2RM has about as many players in a new ladder season as poe 2 has right now, impressive.. for a near 25 year old game vs a 5mth old game..March this year d2Rm had 52k players..
