Random death
I REALLY enjoy the game play of walking along through a map, and RANDOMLY getting ki!!ed by THE GROUND!

Good to know.

It helps to be mindful of what map modifiers you are running. For example, there is burning ground.
There is also a pantheon passive that makes burning ground does not affect you. ★ Forum Threads ★

Random deaths are core design (no joke).
But I don't call ground effects random. (Except there are so many effects you can't see them.) In PoE there are only a few limits what abilities enemies can have. And they can be multiplicated - even more with many enemies. (The same is true for your damage in a weaker way ...) So in many cases when I died because of an unexpected big hit (or some smaller ones in a fast row) or an unseen effect I couldn't find anything dangerous when I came back. That makes PoE interesting. But together with the increasing xp death penalty very annoying too! Last edited by Jerexil#5282 on May 9, 2025, 7:32:06 AM

Wasn't there a game that added heart attacks as part of some mechanics?
