Unique maps are very hard to locate visually

Unique maps do not have distinct enough visual markers to identify them in atlas maps. While some unique maps of swirls of colors, others do not.

My suggestion would be to have some form of map search feature, where you can select to only show unique maps / corrupt nexus / cleansed maps / maps with rarity / boss maps, etc.

If that is time consuming, maybe look into making the unique maps "visually unmissable" in the atlas map.

I agree they don't stand out particularly well initially, but the Atlas does have a search bar, and you can already enter the word "unique" to, well, highlight unique maps.
