I know it's called the Temple of "Chaos" , but the RNG factor is just too much

I just spend a whole hour chasing a Dragon Around. Dealing some bit of damage, then avoiding the part where he does a Roar (This can take out my whole ES so it is his only risky move) and then moving around a bunch of elemental ground that does nothing to me because I bumped my resistances quite a bit.
It was painful and very annoying but I kept doing it because I spend the gameplay hours prior to it grinding the Temple trying to get some ascendancy points. Before my "successful" round it would usually go like this: - Really easy first round, kill all monsters, get some XP and items - Probably die on the second round if I get surrounded or die on third round if it rolls Soul Core challenge or I get a pretty bad curse combination. - Get to last boss and die if it's not the Dragon Earlier this morning, I rolled the Dragon but I was unlucky because a previous room forced me to pick Energy Shield. At my current build Dragon + ES means that the Dragon will simply never die. And I actually had to give up. Otherwise the bosses are pretty difficult. The vulture is workable until it summons the giant rat. The other bird I had no idea actually existed until today, but it killed me with a surprise tornado. No big deal, because a bad combination of the first two curses would usually get me killed at the second room while surviving. But this last time I had a very lucky run. I was able to pick "No flask charges earned from killing enemies", "Debuffs take longer" and "Monsters have extra 20% damage" . To add insult to injury, for the Dragon Boss fight I picked the thing that releases lightning. It's placed in such a way that it is trivial to ignore during the fight with the dragon. But it would have been very deadly if I rolled the Vulture. (Chaos damage does nothing to me because I have Chaos Inoculation) Many of the curses are game-enders. But some are completely harmless. One of them actually helps my build because it slows down missiles. Last bumped on Apr 21, 2025, 9:30:24 PM

The bird needs to go for sure.
Everything else is fine. You just have to do the trial a few times and you'll quickly learn which options to take based on your build (for example, not taking bleed and poison if you're playing ES with no CI). |
