# support gem slots feels too low

Firstly: I understand that adding extra support gem slots enables more multipliers to be added and numbers skyrocket.

However, I think the game does not feel very awesome from a theorycrafting perspective right now. Skills generally get up to 3 support gems because greater/perfect jeweler orbs are super rare.

Additionally, most support gems are something like “+x% damage on Tuesdays”, which doesn’t change how the skill feels at all.

Initially this system felt pretty cool, but you quickly learn that there’s usually 1-2 obvious support gems, meaning you have only 1-2 support gems to choose from. As they’re mostly damage number changes, there’s extremely limited way to actually customize your gameplay experience.

Compare this to last epoch, which essentially has the same skill tree set up, but instead of support gems you use the specializations. These specializations feel very impactful and often change the entire way a skill works.
