Defenses still feel useless

It is also way too hard to get high enough to make any impact. The scaling is still weird, you can go from breezing through a waystone, then the next tier is instant death. I still feel like I get stunned instantly by ranged attacks despite the changes and building threshold on gear.

I'm playing smith of kitava and feel very tanky. Let me ask you a question. Out of the 123 passive points and 8 ascendancy points. How many did you spend on defense?

Also look at your waystones and make sure there isn't monsters have 200% increased stun buildup. I never run those maps and vendor them instantly

if you're on the red/green side of the passive tree, get the 80% stun recovery near the mercenary start.
if you are on the blue/green side, get the energy shield circle in the upper right-ish side that gives thresholds based on energy shield. |

me playing totem warchief 95lvl, 7k armour, 3.5k life, 75 all ress inc chaos, 90 chance to block.
today i helped a friend to lvl up and got oneshooted in T8 map !!!! T8 carl ! the mods on the map were just rarity, quantety and mobs are armoured, no delirium or special mods from area on that map, thats it. i got one shooted offscrean dont even know by what. For me that was a last drop, after 13 years playing every leage, spending lots of time and money on that game, im quit for ever, even if that game will be good one day, im done with it. that devs completly ruined that game, also the fact that they delaed poe 1 new patch make me more angry. bb |

Yeah defense is in a bad place right now. ES is the only good defence because it’s the only thing that prevents you from being one shot. Can’t stack HP without getting HP mods on every piece of gear, EV doesn’t dodge majority of 1 shot mechanics and if you spec into the notable that lets you dodge those then your EV is so low you won’t dodge even basic mobs. Armour does nothing. Resistances at max do next to nothing too, they just prevent you from being one shot by the weakest elemental attacks in the game.
There’s plenty of mechanics that increase monster damage on waystone, atlas, incursion etc but even at base levels with no buffs, they all hit ridiculously hard. I don’t die often but that’s because I play mostly ranged characters and kill everything before they can attack me. I also have good amounts of investment into defensive skills and passives that allow me to survive in most circumstances if I screw up. That being said, there’s still so many things that one shot me and I would love to play melee characters but I find it too punishing with how bad defence is. Shields are a good option too but I don’t like them and don’t want to use active blocking skills; that’s never been my play style and I don’t find it fun. |

Waystone affix are much crazier in this patch 0.2 if you guys noticed. Enfeeble,temporal and monster gain xx as extra damage. I'm constantly getting those and most of the time they came in pairs.
Random 1 shot. Damage mitigation isn't a thing in poe2. It drop are mostly useless. I feel that get 300 rarity find and go t1 maps get currency and go trade site. Poe2 Amazon get your item. Drops are shit and even trade site is shit. |
