Unlinking steam from poe

So since my account was hacked thru the stand alone
If i have steam unlinked.. Will that mean my steam account will be completely separate from the stand alone.. Meaning .. If i log in steam poe 1 or 2 which the char be different than if i were to long into the stand alone client through just email.. since ggg has no security protection in place from hackers. cough 2fa or force steam only and get rid of stand alone.
