Remove Defences And Defence Modifiers From POE2
It sounds like a lot of people are using things like +life, +energy shield, +armour, and so on to scale the amount of life they have.
It sounds like it's not a desired part of the design of the game to have players be too tanky. It sounds like the developers feel that being tanky is more dangerous to the balance of the game, than having a very large amount of DPS and damage - so much in fact that you can one-shot a boss. So just remove defence modifiers. This would include all armour stats on items, energy shield stats, evasion, +life, +energy shield, and so on. I suggest we replace them with, every player has 100 life. Small enemies only do 10 damage with all of their attacks, and larger enemies might do 40, 50 and 100 if they use their special ability. Now, scaling boss damage will be much easier. Now, every player will be on the same playing field and it'll be MUCH easier to make sure that every boss does about the same amount of damage, and it will become a truly skill-based game. Finally, players WILL have to engage with the boss mechanics, all of them, all the time, because if you don't, well, there's not going to be any buffer to save you. This way, every player will be forced to learn every mechanic of every boss in the game - over 100 of them - and I think this will really do a lot to make POE2 better, because then it'll be more skill-based, and people will be more focused on learning and growing as a player.
