Sadly it is not a reworked PoE1

So I started playing a couple of days ago and it is obvious that I now have some grief with the system and is in no particular order:

Why is my Char moving at a snails pace?
Coming from a couple of thousand hours of PoE 1 ... moving at a slow pace without the ability to compensate with a movement skill just feels like shit.

Crafting? Where? Playing slots!
I don't see a crafting system here, just a luck based artificial prolonged crafting process to hinder fast prgress.

Gold?
Just WHY?
You had a unique system that did not need any useless currency and now we are back to ... useless currency?
I don't get it, but whatever.
Respec the passive tree, ok, but just make it free then, same effect. It just doesn't matter.

Endgame (map)
So the endgame map is supposed to be an infinite expanding area, I assume?
Holy F... what a nightmare!
I progressed to somewhat T10 now and I can't be bothered to scroll around there anymore to find something, can I?
At least let me scroll out more, or let me search for things.

Combinig stuff
Why do I have to do things one by one without beeing able to button smash my way through there?

Trials
I don't like them but I don't hate them either.
The Sekhemas Trials is a litte tedious and time consuming, but so was the PoE1 Trial.

But hey, there are good sides too:

Skills
I kind of like the skill system better.

Runes
The socketed runes are kind of a neat feature.

PoE 1 stash tabs
Just thank you for giving me those and not having to spend another fortune.

Summary:

Fun! Yeah, where is my fun?
Ok, let me clarify:
- Moving slowly
- Progress slowly
- Awkward mapping
- Story was tedious
- Crafting / finding equipment seems VERY tedious
- currency generation seems off / slow

Don't waste our time
As an expample:
- combining
- tedious routines
- tedious crafting
- super slow progression

Games these days have one thing in common, they waste your time.
- Minigames that take seconds every time.
- Weird menues, that go into each other
- Non skipable animations
Things that are not gameplay aren't the reason we play a game. If you play a hack and slay, you want to do just that, kill creeps ... as many as quickly as possible.

PoE was quick and dirty fun, this one is sadly not that.
And plase don't get me wrong here, I belive it has potential. You just need to listen to your playerbase. A good chance for a restart for the bloated giant PoE has become now.

I can taste this one coming:

It is however the best solution if you really feel the way you described. Leave feedback and move on. GGG's Jonathan even said, that they're not upset about the backlash and bad reviews because the player count is still much higher than it ever was in PoE1, so in his own words "it can't be that bad". If you do feel it's bad, then moving to something else is the best feedback you can give them, and the only one they will really care about.

The current PoE1 league got them 229K max concurrent players. The league before that had 189K max concurrent players ... newest league was up significantly.

The last league PoE2 had got them 246K max concurrent players. The league before that had a max of 578K. The new PoE2 league lost more than half of their players from peak about 5 months ago.

With the number of people that played PoE1 over its entire lifetime it makes sense that PoE2 would see record players as people that haven't touched PoE1 in years have come back to see what's up with the new game.

While I don't think it's likely IF "vision" trumps everything else then both PoE1 and PoE2 will suffer.

PoE1 hasn't had a new league in 8-9 months so that has to REALLY hurt returning PoE1 players. If PoE2 doesn't get its act together we could see a new league with LOWER numbers than the last PoE1 league. Unlikely but almost happenned this time.
I mean... Sometimes a game is just not designed to appeal to your sensibilities and that's not necessarily a bad thing. It means you don't have to worry about this one and can move on to playing something you prefer.

I say this as someone who has almost the exact opposite opinion:
- I prefer dungeon crawling over dungeon speeding because it feels more immersive (I can't explain it, it just does)
- Crafting could be better, yes, but I also really like having to compromise and consider my item choices over just making the ideal gear every time
- Gold... I like it as a soft respec barrier over making it a viable strategy to change your entire build before every boss. Gambling can be a fun fallback.
- No opinion on endgame because I never found that part of ARPGs particularly enjoyable

I was never able to get into PoE1 despite trying several times. I could never get myself to even play through the campaign. I.e. it's just not a game made for me, but it is for a lot of others obviously.

Watched the podcast with the devs today and I don't think they will adapt in time.

You're right about that, the player count doesn't lie, but I doubt my -1 will help, if people don't start leaving in droves.

I really wanted to like it thou.
