Recombinator feedback

I just had a few thoughts about the recombinator and ideas which might help making it more engaging and rewarding without making it overpowered.
As a player with a kind of SSF playstyle I currently struggle very hard with getting any kind of upgrades and maintaining a steady flow of currency income which in itself is another problem. I feel like those changes where made due to the recombinator now being in the game. It is in theory a very powerful tool but it feels borderline useless at my current stage. Which I already know will only get worse the more I progress. The main problem is the higher the Tiers and the more amount modifiers selected will result in the chance drastically be lowered for success as we all should know by this point. The problem even selecting only 2 modifiers but of a higher tier will result in the recombination being basically impossible. Making it useless for players who need high tier modifiers to get upgrades on their gear. If you get a sub 1% chance for it to succeed it might be more efficient to fracture chaos orb spam instead. A simple idea I had to make it feel more usable for all recombination would be to give the option of investing more currency for the recombination to succeed. Being on an exponential curve. This would make it unreasonable to try and get the perfect item while at least giving you the chance to get a usable base with more than 2 mid Tier modifiers. For this would allow to add more modifiers if they are of a lower tier or use less higher modifiers instead while still being usable. You can argue that the chance should never be a 100% and therefore a diminishing returns might be needed but on first thought this would make it feel a lot better while keeping its power still in check. There is a the problem:
You must farm for the bases: High Tier Mods on Desirable bases. You must farm for the currency to use recombinator. You have a very low (sub 7-8%) chance to get 2(good) mods on a base. You must then ex spam to get other mods, of which you have very low chance of getting a 3rd desirable mod out of 4 ex. If you do win that lottery, you will have to use a few chaos orbs to try to roll off one of the 2 bad mods, to have a 4 good/decent mod item. All this might happen 1/1000 tries. If slot machines paid out 1/1000 the casinos would go broke because of no customers. So will this game. |
