Dont make the game too easy please, Im scared

Hey all,

first of all I love Path of Exile, 1 and 2. But Im a bit worried. There are more and more patches that decreases the difficulty of Path of Exile 2 which I absolutely dislike. For me this game was always the hardest out of the bigger ARPGS like Diablo, Last Epoch or whatever. It was the reason I loved to play this game, its more complex, its not only casual-related.

While I agree that the game had to be a bit less complicated for new gamers to join, I still disagree with lowering difficulties. For example, it is really easy now to get tier 15 waystones. Its way too fast, I got to t15 in one day after starting the endgame, because once you understood the system it is way too easy to climb in tiers. There is no downside to climb fast to 15. Rarity and number of affixes of waystones are waaaaay too unimportant now. May be nice for some casuals, but really degrade the fun for more serious gamers imo.

Lowering the difficulty of t0 bosses even further is not the right way for me as well. The infinite trys on t0 pinnacle is way too far in the wrong direction. Killing a boss that has unlimited attempts is not reawarding. It is not rewarding to kill bosses that are just way too easy to kill. Long term fun lies in difficulty, not in gifts. 6 trys for a t0 boss is already great. Please keep it like that, its a good system that dont need to me even more easy.

Sure there are more difficulty levels, I get that, but I must admit I dont like the design where one boss has 5 difficulty levels. Its a bit too repetitive. Imo there should be three difficulties at highest (and the highest now should stay the highest, that is indeed difficult).

Its not always the right way to make everything easier or too accessible. Because then the game loses its special environment. You shouldnt get everything in 2 weeks, you need to earn it. The game is already very well playable with work and life ;).

There is more stuff, that shouldnt get easier, these are just a few examples. But I guess I made my point with these examples.

Are they making it easier or are they making it more accessable for the other builds that are in the game?

This is the real question you have to be asking.

When only a handfull of the hundreds of skills are actually capable of having builds that can defeat even T0 bosses that is saying something. Making it easier could just be a balancing patch to make the game more accessable for the other skills.
I tested a handful of builds already, none of it had any kind of problems to kill t0 or t1 bosses, for me the game gets hard at like t3 or t4 bosses, at least for my skill level (and again with different builds, all played without guides or whatever). While I see it is not the same for everyone, I still think even a t1 boss shouldnt be easy, just like you said. Of course balancing is a thing, but its not the main thing. T0 bosses and t15 maps are doable with nearly every wild build, I really believe that.

Most times people struggle because they dont see where they can improve. And thats something you learn while playing more. Making things less difficult just demolishes the need to improve yourself. I learn evry day something new about my builds. Its part of the progress and you shouldnt skip that. The game has enough variations and possibilities to improve yourself enough to do t15 and entry bosses without the need to get easier.

The problem is most often in front of the screen :P. If you are not willing to learn or to improve and invest some time, then my take is, that you shouldnt do that content. It is accessible already. Way more than poe1 ever was and I never played such a good rewarding game like poe1 because of its difficulty.
