Necromantic Conduit Absolutely Should Not Have Mana Drain

It's one of the very first ascendancy nodes that you can pick and players cannot do anything to mitigate it. It's basically a trap pick. I'm currently playing with it just because there's literally nothing else I can choose on Lich ascendancy that gives me any benefit.

And it's completely crippling me from progressing, because while in normal areas I can just go back to town for mana whenever I want, when it comes to bosses I have to stay for the entire fight and if I run out of mana because my damage isn't good enough, then I will never be able to beat that fight.

The curse is pretty good because it scales with content. Invest a couple points into aoe size and it easily deletes entire groups of enemies.

players regenerate something like 2% or 2.5% of their maximum mana per second by default. So you need like 200% increased mana regen to actually net gain mana against the mana drain. 30% more damage is really good, but that drain is just too much of a downside for most builds before they can get good high tier jewelry.

The downside should just be changed to 50% less mana recovery rate or something. That would make it a lot more accessible for people without good gear.

Ascendencies should NOT have trade offs.
The ways to unlock them isn't fun, then getting your points doesn't even feel impactful half the time.
You feel no sense of accomplish by beating the dumb ascendency trials, it's bad.

I don't agree. If there was no trade off then the damage would have to be less too. No pain no gain.

Trade offs certainly shouldn't be bullshit and gatekeeping though.

Ascendencies are not the place for trade offs, they need to be huge power spikes after you suffer through bad content like Sekhmas(sp).

I enjoy Sekhemas and felt accomplishment after getting my 4th ascendancy.
