GGG do something about the rampant RMT in the game

I am getting minimum 1 whisper per hour from accounts linking websites to sell and buy in game currency for real money. Look at the prices of the items at the moment. You guys need to do something about this, is making me not want to play the game.

EDIT: To add to this i have 3.5k hours in poe1 and been playing for over 10years and i have never felt this during all that time, but you can clearly see the impact on the economy in poe2 and the amount of advertising in game makes it even more obvious. I report every message i get btw i would suggest everyone do the same

By nerfing the loot and currency drops they have instead enshrined RMT.
This is only the beginning, it's going to get so much worse.

While it is impossible to eliminate RMT to 100% as long as we can trade, the fact that they do basically nothing to lessen the damage is annoying.

The "ignore" list has only 100 slots, there is 0 useful moderation of the global chat and whispers.

They could use a system where the community has some "managers" for stuff like this. If you fulfil the criteria, as a "community manager" you can "black list" RMT bots and accounts blacklisted by them are muted for everyone.
Sure, not everyone would get this "power" to prevent abuse, but having basically no one moderating this stuff isn't better.

Will GGG develop a "marketplace"? They said they were planning on doing it over 12 months ago, and every time it's brought up again, we get a "planning on/yes-no/future" whatever bla...
Dude, it's 2025 and the entire community is asking for an actual way to trade items without direct player-to-player interaction for faster trading, to avoid scams and to prevent price fixing; except the ppl who scam and price fix.

"It's not our highest priority", yeah... we get that, busy finding stuff to nerf, but it's a high priority for your users...

The only way to fix this is by putting more focus on SSF and making it the base version of the game. When the devs say that trade-based progression is core to PoE because of a "healthy economy," combined with the fact that loot keeps getting nerfed, the problem is only gonna get worse. RMT has always been a problem in PoE 1, and now it’s completely infested and out of control in PoE 2, especially since PoE 2 has like 10x more players. The devs aren’t gonna be able to fix bots and RMT, no game company ever really can. But if they made SSF actually fun and super rewarding, it would go a long way toward solving the RMT issue. People would finally have a solid ARPG experience with healthy, solo-based progression, that would be way more enjoyable for a lot of players and would drastically reduced RMT.
Its just to easy to spend 3-4 bucks get a few hundred ex and completely outfit your toon. This becomes beyond tempting when you farm and farm and never see any gear worth a crap. If you do see something that can be tweaked or crafted properly odds are ya dont have the orbs to make it happen cause the drop rates are abysmal. Improve currency drop rates and better loot. This game makes you want to quit now when before it made ya want to keep playing.

Reeeeeelaaaaax...

Soon we get that option in the shop so they can cash grab even more.
Then they will fix the problem, because they don't want the competition.

If anything, this league has laid the perfect ground for RMT :

- Severe nerf in currencies dropped
- Build diversity being inexistant, thus far pushing the demands specific items
and raising their price significantly
- Campaign difficulty partly caused by the absence of meaningful loot
- Armies of bot creating a massive inflation

I was watching Fubgun's video today and seeing him having dropped the sheer amount of 48h for his playtime during the league made me realize how bad the RMT situation was, given the absurd prices of the items listed on the website.

I wish GGG would make a SSF mode similar to what Last Epoch currently has, because this is going to be a disaster when the game become F2P.

This is a textbook baby-with-the-bathwater solution. I promise you whatever you believe the impact of RMT has been to the average player's ability to enjoy the game, completely re-aligning the entire design philosophy around SSF would be much more impactful (and not in a good way).

Like, what is even the point of being an online game at that point? Why not just make it single-player with a ladder or leaderboard?

Are they? They exchange rates seem downright stable compared to 0.1 and if anything gear seems to be getting more affordable.

This is what you get when you reduce currency drops so drastically.

The best way to combat this at some level is to have important loot gated behind content that is harder to automate (trials, complex maps, stuff like that).

You will never get fully rid of this though. I also severely doubt they actually banned all the accounts who exploited rituals. There were people selling hundreds of divines on day 2, fubgun dropped 46 in days of playtime.

That's because people are quitting, it's a buyers market.

I see. So let me see if I've got it straight. RMT is spiraling wildly out of control despite a rapidly dwindling customer base; this is leading to massive inflation, but we're not experiencing significant price increases due to that inflation because the aforementioned population decline just happens to be occurring at a rate inversely proportional to the inflation?

That's actually wild. If we didn't have irrefutable evidence establishing all of these things as fact it would almost sound like the sort of thing someone just made up out of nowhere based on nothing but goofy hunches and some unrelated negative emotions about recent changes the developers have made.
