Poe1 and poe2 are very different games right?

I heard PvP in poe1 was a failure so it was removed. I never got the chance to try it.

I would argue that an AARPG with no PvP has no soul. And yes I’ve listen to every argument about why PvP isn’t fair for the average player. I totally agree with that, PvP players are not the average player.

PvP players kept Diablo 2 going for strong for years and years.

“But they’ll never be able to balance the PvP to meet average player expectations”.
Again you are correct, the average player shouldn’t expect to enter PvP and do well.

That was the introduction to my Ted talk, welcome for those of you still here.

What is PvP in an AARPG and why is it so important?

I would argue that PvP is the soul of an AARPG and represents the pinnacle of tests a player can undertake within the genre.

You can learn how to do any boss with enough repetition, the human element of PvP introduces new ways to create depth in the game.

“But again the balance won’t ever be ideal”
Correct, one of the certain things in life is nothing can be perfect. Balancing a AARPG PvP is very difficult but it doesn’t have to be done in a day.

In all seriosuness If this really is a live service aarpg and you don’t expect to have PvP I don’t know what we are doing here…

PvP is not racing. It’s okay for PvP to be imbalanced. Mapping and bossing is very imbalanced. What would be super cool is if GGG could find a way to make the under performing builds perform better in PvP compared to the over performing builds.

Maybe a stat penalty based on dps? That seems somewhat feasible. Higher dps = more penalty lowering dps.

You guys could have a sweet spot that would force players to utilize otherwise not useful gear. That’s always a cool way to do it.

Anyway this has been my Ted talk for pvp in poe2.

I think they have to at least add 1v1 duels since there's a hideout mtx dueling arena.

dont think a competitive ladder type system would be good in the game but could be wrong.(not sure if D2 had that). I likely wouldn't participate in much pvp but I did always like the idea of the hall of grandmasters in poe1.

If other players want to battle it out im all for it as long as regular content isn't gated behind doing pvp. It could be cool if the top players get their builds made into toned down rogue-exiles for the pve enjoyers to discover in the next league(maybe not in normal maps). Also gives a bit if fame to the pvp player.
"Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."
They are, I didn't care for poe 1 much, was better than D3, but still not my main game.

Would like to see poe 2 go even more souls and elden ring inspired , even no rest for the wicked style.

Don't care if they don't i like the current mix and such.

But i am all for pushing the boundaries and slowing down dark fantasy arpgs.

Just the same way souls did it compared to faster 3rd person arpgs that we had.

Not everyone likes blaster arpgs. I don't mind them in small doeses, but i get bored when i am not engaged in the combat and just clicking and running maps, collecting loot or whatever it may be.

I play real time fantasy games for the combat and I want to see and feel the weight of the monsters i fight. Even when i am killing packs I want to see and enjoy the fights.

You could have just said "I want to pick on people weaker than me"
