My feelings on the game.

Some of my thoughts on the state of PoE2 in a somewhat incoherent order.
The game looks and sounds incredible, although I wish skills had more impact / sent the dead flying with a big enough hit. Acts 1-2 (and 3 with the recent changes) are the best content in the game. While the bosses are the best content of the best content (campaign) but with 0.2 they have way too much HP unless you get extremely lucky with weapon drops, having to fight a boss for 5 minutes is fine, having it go for 10-15 minutes is not. Thorns actually being usable is nice, it requiring unique items and high level supports isn't. If playing a weapon based character most skills feel bad to use until gem level 15+, which makes me believe the intended experience for weapons (mace and melee huntress in particular) is to use the basic weapon attack as your main attack until at least maps. While the tooltip DPS of any given skill is probably wrong, when an unsupported basic attack has 6 times the DPS of a supported skill, it feels "wrong" (if the DPS shown is actually correct it feels worse). With the lack of loot in general I assume all gear upgrades are to come from the shop and gambling, which doesn't feel good, especially when I cannot exalt shop pieces, because I don't get exalts. Once I gain access to currency exchange I can finally have a few exalts for a time. Movement speed on boots is mandatory, but so rare it's likely you'll keep the first boots you find for the entirety of the campaign. Mace doesn't have access to elements other than fire, both huntress and ranger have all 3 elements, monk has access to frost and lightning. It makes me feel like every mace user I will make will be the exact same as every other mace user. The attribute requirements on skills and gear are extremely high, I'd love to have a curse aura on a mace warrior but that just doesn't seem feasible when I can barely equip a mace. I assume the goal is to not have anyone pick skills outside their type to increase balance at the cost of build diversity. The game balance is way off, which would be fine if the drops weren't balanced around trade (with no support for trading in the game). Magic find has no place as a stat on gear (outside of maybe specific uniques with downsides). If you must have magic find then there should be readily accessible runes for it. Unless the intention is to make loot non-existent. Most ascendancies feel like they have no more than 4 (maybe 6) points worth of things to get, which is a good thing because I have extreme dislike of the trial of chaos and find Sekhema mostly boring due to its length, exacerbated by the lack of choice in which room type you go to since the de-buffs offer no choice, it's the least bad one always. I don't know we're meant to have deliberate combat like the bosses, or screen wide explosions like the white mobs seem to demand. Added damage effectiveness needs to be in the game or faster attacks will always outperform slower ones at higher gear levels, if you add 10 damage to a skill that does 100 damage every second and a skill that does 200 damage every 2 seconds, one gains double the benefit. If it already exist in the game it needs to be visible. Hidden movement speed modifiers on equipment needs to be made visible, it punishes new players for no reason. Or in a perfect world they would be removed. The passive tree feels like it's made by two different people, one who thinks it should be positives and one who thinks every positive should come with a negative. Chaos Inoculation is the only purely positive keystone. (you already have no health, ES is superior to health due to scaling, bleed immunity should be gained via charms or some other source). Huntress is missing a physical detonator, blood hunt would work. Huntress works as purely ranged character fine, but not as a purely melee one, I feel like there ought to be a frenzy spender for melee. There's an extreme lack of quality of life. Reforging 30 lesser runes into 10 normal ones should take 2 clicks, not 20 with an unnecessary animation in between. Having to interact with 4 different NPCS/benches after every map feels like busywork (identify + sell, salvage, disenchant, stash). The atlas system: The exploration aspect of it feels horrible to me. You have to spend excessive amounts of time staring at the screen scrolling around to maybe find a map you don't hate. You have to constantly run maps that you despise just to move around. Waystones should drop as magic when you're expected to run magic, and rare when you're expected to run rare (with the correct amount of modfiers). If all the currency you get goes to trying to make the maps have the right amount of modifiers it feels like you're not gaining anything. The graphics on the atlas are a detriment to its functionality, seeing the paths and where you're trying to go should be priority one. While you get more waystones than you need in 0.2, bosses not dropping higher tier ones feels terrible, because you're stuck at running a low tier one when you could run higher tiers. I could not see a single corrupted nexus, they need to be absolutely obvious if they are something you need to run. The atlas being randomized doesn't add anything. Doing all the maps should be incentivized, not doing as few maps as you can. Delirium spawning invisible enemies on top of you (because they haven't loaded in yet) feels pretty bad. Enemies spawning in drops the framerate, it's better with 0.2 but in 0.1 any location that spawned enemies dropped the framerate to single digits while the enemies are spawning, now it drops it less so that's good. I feel like neither breach, ritual nor delirium fit the slower more methodical gameplay of the campaign. Basically anything that spawns monsters on top of you and swarms you feel like it doesn't fit with the movement and ability speeds of PoE2. (I have no tried breach since 0.1). Overall I feel like the game starts at a pretty strong and declines consistently as you progress past act 3, but then I like the slower gameplay of the start and don't want the gameplay to "devolve" in to PoE1 by the endgame, PoE1 is already pretty good at being PoE1.
