Monster attack speed and animations

With all the talk about how fast monsters are, the focus was entirely on movement speed. However, attack speed it just as oppressive, this is compounded by a lack of attack animations where a lot of monsters end up spamming the same melee attack over and over at an absurd speed.
For example the boar monster, will just gore you over and over without any variation. I think another lesson that needs to be taken from the souls games is that monsters had a series of attacks before being left durable to player. The boar monster could have 1,2,3 style combo swinging its tusks back and forth before having a .5 seconds or so to ready for another attack. I realize what I am asking for is probably hundreds of man hours spent reanimating over 100 monsters(maybe more), but that is kind of what you signed up for with this souls-lite combat. Everything stuns you, this is the real issue.

" D4 had the same mechanic early on in the game and it was the single most frustrating thing to deal with until they finally removed it. I've spec'd into stun threshhold and it does f*** all against getting stunlocked. I even use the stun charm that's supposed to make you not get stunned, but that charm doesn't even work when white mobs basic attacks can interrupt anything you're doing and theres a dozen swarming you at mach 10. I hate not being able to cast anything. It's not fun. It's frustrating, and it makes me not even want to play this game. So many times now I've been interrupted while casting by some random white mob hitting me with a basic attack off screen in the middle of a swarm of melee monsters that run and attack me like they're hasted to the gills. |
