Boss fights are ridiculous
Bosses are absurdly tanky. If a boss has a one-hit kill, the boss fight doesn't need to go on for TEN MINUTES (I'm looking at you, The Executioner). You shouldn't have to demonstrate your grasp of the mechanics over fifteen or twenty of their attack cycles (thinking specifically of the second phase of the werewolf boss in Ogham Manor here).
I get that a boss needs to be something of a dps check, but it's ENORMOUSLY frustrating to have a build that's plowing through the world with little effort only to get hard-gated on progressing the story on a boss that takes so long to complete -- and to whom there's a fair chance you will die if you mess up a dodge roll or two -- that you don't really want to play the game anymore. If I wanted to test my stamina, I'd play a sport. It would be great if there were some positive feedback mechanics in here. Some things that would be nice: - Have adds drop corpses. The lack of this really screws over the minion Witch, which was my first character, which I abandoned for exactly this reason. - Have puzzle elements that can accelerate damage ("oh, if I shoot lightning at this orb it electrifies this grid which gives the boss a temporary vulnerability to lightning.") - Have @#$% DPS phases. Every other game in the world does this ffs! Last bumped on Apr 11, 2025, 10:42:44 PM

First of all, wrong forum.
Second of all: no campaign boss takes ten minutes unless your gear is ridiculously bad, and very few of them have actual one-hit-kills unless you've been ignoring your resistances. Third of all, "every other game does X" is a reason NOT to do something, not an automatic reason TO do something. So even if your point were true (to be clear: it is not, both Count Geonor and the Executioner have DPS phases), it would not be valid. |

If a boss takes 10+ minutes and you're getting one shot, that's a build problem, not bad design.
The campaign is the tutorial, if it's already a struggle, something's seriously off. You don’t need insane gear to beat these fights. Basic defenses and decent damage go a long way, as one shots only happen when defenses are completely neglected. If you're running low defense and low DPS, of course it's frustrating, but that’s on you, not the boss fights.
