Had the same issue and now have a permanently failed map. I'm wondering if I'm permanently locked out of two atlas points due to this.
Killed the first normal, tried the boss and died, killed it second attempt but was locked out of doing the remaining essences and couldn't finish the map |

 Hello, i get the same issue, kill every emprisonned monster, nothing happen, and the book don't drop for 2 more atlas skill point that's a pain.. |
