Jon is the only one who understands what makes a Game good, unfortunately..

for that vision to work, you need developers who also understand it

You need people willing to break the mold so you can create greatness

But if you are skill-less, you can't do nothing

The combat engine you guys came up with is not good

The skill design is not good either, it's pretty blend and boring

The enemy AI is... non-existent

As a result, that vision can't work, if you can't make people excited to fight, you can't expect people to follow along

Only the ART team delivered something exceptional

The more GGG patches the game, the more it becomes like PoE 1, the faster it looses its nextgen appeal.. and opportunity

That's unfortunate and sad at the same time

PoE 2 was supposed to be your opportunity to do things you believed in, instead, you let PoE 1 eat your lunch

The result is a pathetic product, life less and boring to play

You didn't stand up, you didn't raise your voice loud enough, you let them consume you

I'll stick around, i'll fight the propagandists, and i'll try to make people see what i can see

No Rest for the Wicked has many issues, and it probably won't be a seasonal game, unfortunately, but they managed to build a great combat system, i wish that's what we had for PoE 2... screw the ones who can't see it, they are not worthy

If you only care about loot and not gameplay, then you are a lost cause

i think theres a lot of unfortunate events.

the EA was supposed to release earlier.

GGG delayed it with good reason.

but upon release they had a lot of fires to fight.

they put out as much as possible but suddenly a lot of them went off for holidays.

this was not the original plan. if the game released without delay they could have spent more time fixing the game.

they could have quickly addressed the overperforming skills.

instead. by the time they returned players were singing praises for their experience using overperforming skills.

players had spent tons of effort and currency making their overperforming builds work/be better.

ggg got back into the situation where they were back in the early days of poe1 where nerfing the players could cost them their player base.

so they delayed the nerfs. letting players have their fun.

unfortunately this led many players to wrongfully believe that this was how the game was meant to be played.

their expectations were skewered.

oh well

Was No Rest for the Wicked ever updated?

Last time I played the game degened into skill spam to victory.
Jonathan is the one holding it back. He has a deeply unhealthy idea of fun and challenge, his attempts to enforce it aren't compatible with the game. Nrftw as your example has very slow combat, which is entirely dependent on the fact that you never fight more than a handful of enemies at the same time, with a very limited number of encounters per area, It is a souslike first and an arpg second.

That can't be replicated in Poe2 the maps are way too big, with too many enemies, moving too fast. The vision was never real, if it was the game would have been slow from the start, but it was awkwardly slowed down mid development without changing the scale of anything. it's just Jonathan's unhinged definition of fun, awkwardly inserted into a promising arpg that couldn't accommodate it.

Now it's a slow uncomfortable process of removing his vision, probably setting early Access back an extra year at least. And of course in the end Poe2 will probably feel a lot more like Poe1. Not saying that's a good thing, maybe properly done the vision could be interesting, but you'll have to wait for poe3 to try again.
I think Jonathan is doing a good job, the gameplay is great IMO (which I feel is the most important bit), he just hit a bump with 0.2 with nerfs/changes and is in the process of fixing it, people just tend to overreact and I know this is beating a dead horse, but it's STILL AN EA game at this time. It's what we signed up.
I got the sauce.

POE2 enjoyer.
