My account got hacked

It happened on wednesday, logged in and saw my character without any gear, then i checked my stash, was missing 3 divines, some greater runes, jewels and even the lvl20 skill gems i was using

Already sent a couple reports to GGG.

I don't know if they're able to replicate any missing items or if they even have a register of what characters were wearing at any given time. I just want to know HOW did they managed to hack my account, because I don't want to start over only to get the same outcome.

I invested over 300 hours into that character.

really sorry to hear about your predicament and i hope GGG helps you quickly

out of interest is the email you use for login also used for other stuff?

I had similiar experience in WOW many years ago. since then i made an email that i only use for a game login and had never had any such problems again

I also do the same for online banking, the idea is the companies will never share that email with anyone and neither should you (dont use gmail). that way you should never get any spam or fishing emails for those emails. maybe something worth considering in the future as extra layer of security

I only use 2 Emails and i make sure i don't click on any weird link or spam.

Not only did they stole my POE2 stuff, they also hid the game from my Steam library and gifted my steam points "to the community", maybe that person has some kind of Robin Hood complex(?)

Anyways, i have all of my "security" stuff in order, the 2 autentification steps, a strong password and they're still able to hack my account for the sole porpuse of stealing POE2 stuff. So how did they managed to do such thing?

The steam support reply was lame and the only response from GGG was something like "we might be able to help you" and then nothing for days.

I hate to break it to you but afaik GGG only eventually helps you recover your account if you lost control over it by the hacker who changed the password and other stuff. They never return items or rollback characters, and there are videos on yt explaining very well why they choose never doing this no matter what.

they got in through steam that is worrying. dont you have to ok a device to allow a steam login, cant remember

last league people were saying third party apps for poe might be an issue but not sure as i avoid anything like that.

Im at a lose mate maybe you can setup a code sent to phone or something.

edit ok authorized devices is for family sharing
