Future proofing with account names A.K.A Family Names
Hey GGG,
Just wanted to throw out an idea I think would make a big difference for a lot of us, by adding account names or “family names” like Black Desert Online does. Basically, the idea is that your account name would be the unique identifier, and then you could name your characters whatever you want without worrying if someone else already took it. Right now, trying to name a character something simple or cool is a nightmare. Anything like “Archer,” “Shadow,” or even just a regular name like “James” is always taken, so we end up with weird spellings or a bunch of numbers at the end. It kinda kills the vibe, especially when you're trying to make a themed build or just want your characters to have names that make sense. Having a unique account name instead would also make it way easier to recognize people across characters. Right now, unless you memorize everyone’s alts, you never know who you're talking to. If we had a system where the account name shows up (like “Bob#1234 – Shadow”), it’d be easier to keep track of friends, guild buddies, or streamers playing different builds. The current system doesn't have future proof design that has flexibility, but giving us the option to have display names or family names would add a lot of flexibility. It’s a small change with a big impact on how we play the game. Anyway, just wanted to toss that out there. Would love to hear what others think too. Cheers! Last bumped on Apr 10, 2025, 11:55:16 PM
