act 3 progression bug since update.

I'm really confused. I understand there was an update and its been a few days since i've played this game on my steam account, but my progress on my sorceress was still on the map of facing the VIPER boss chick in act 3 when my character time traveled. I've been grinding that map trying to level up to take down the boss on my own but since its been a few days i've just logged on and noticed that my character is some how in a different map altogether. did i progress out of this? is this a map glitch? see the objectives on the right side of my game play it indicates a different objective regarding black chambers instead of facing the VIPER boss who does chaos damage. if i skip that boss, did i skip all of the rewards? i know my character was not able to beat the boss but i still wanted to actually beat the boss. dont know if theres specific loot that comes from that boss either... this is kinda like spoiler territory kind of ruining the game for me.
