A idea for a solution to "maps are to large"
Since everyone seems to have some issues with the size of some maps and the overall speed of progression I thought I might share a idea I had. Granted I'm no game designer nor do I have slot if experience in arpgs but why not bake a sprint function into the dodge roll action?
Have it activated by holding down the dodge roll for 2-3 seconds, give the player like 60% more move speed while sprinting. You can balance it by not letting you sprint if you've been hit in the last 4 seconds and if you get hit while sprinting you take double damage. This makes it fix large map backtracking and de-incentives use in combat but not preventing it for the high-risk high reward mobile in combat. Sorry if this is a dumb idea, or the wrong place to post it. Last bumped on Apr 10, 2025, 5:55:53 PM

My main issue with the large map size is not being able to manage my time well. When maps take between 5-25 minutes depending on size/density of mechanics it makes it hard to decide what i should do with the time I have left to play games in that moment.
Maps could be packed with the most insanely fun and rewarding game play possible- but that doesnt change the fact i need to go to bed/work soon and don't want to commit to what could be a 30min adventure. It feels just like that Rick & morty meme Movement speed would help for sure, but I still don't like the time commitment required for every mechanic in the game (trials too) "Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."
