Why the game needs other objectives than just "kill all rares"
|
It's more a psychological thing than the activity itself.
Ofc we all agree that killing rares gives good loot and you want to do them anyway most of the time. But no matter what you do in life, if you have to repeat a task over and over again it becomes very monotonous and tedious for our brain...it simply degenerates if it doesen't get some kind of variaty. And in POE2s case we do the "kill all rare" all the time and nothing else....kill all rares or you can't progress the map, thats all we do and thats the whole endgame activity most of the time. For the sake of our brain health and variaty in general, give us different tasks please to finish the map....or at least let all activities in the map progress some kind of completion bar, so we can choose by ourself how we want to finish the map (Becasue sometimes you just want to run certain endgame activities only and dont want to kill rares, because thats all we usually do. ^^) Thank you. :) Last edited by CroDanZ#1818 on Apr 9, 2025, 7:56:12 PM Last bumped on Apr 12, 2025, 9:47:10 AM

Suggestion: The progress bar could work as follow:
Killing 15-25 trashmobs = 1% progress Killing a rare = 10% progress Finishing a small map activity (Strongbox, Rogue Exiles, etc..) = 10% progress Finishing an big map activity (like Ritual, Delitium, etc..) = 10-30% progress (depends the effort and duration) In irradiated maps all numbers above are increased by 1-4% This way we player can chose by ourself with what type of content we want to finish the map instead of forcing us to "kill all rares"... Additional to that if we want to specialize into 1 farming method later on the last thing we want to do is to search all rares inbetween only to complete the map. Ofc the numbers above are just examples and need to be tested by us player to find the sweetspot...but guess thats the point of an Early Access/Beta anyway. :) |

absolutely 100% agree, other games do this, it works, it gives the player freedom, it almost eliminates the need to backtrack.
What do we have now? all rares are marked on the map..so basically beeline the rares...every single map join the dots... Its a no brainer |

So in my last 15 maps or so I ran into 2 maps where I couldn't finish the map.
In 1 map the last rare was stuck outside of the map and in my second map (boss map) the boss simply wasn't there. XD With a progress bar this couldn't happen becasue I would be able to progress the objective to finish the map somewhere else (by killing trashmobs, doing league mechanics or whatever). ;) |
