Raging Spirits are not fun anymore. Hear me out!
Raging spirits right now feel really bad, and to a point its not even making sense.
There are few fundamental issues with the skill now that dont even make sense. 1) You are forced to use Firewall only to summon the SRS. You have no choice left anymore. 2) Even when using Firewall you cant get maximum SRS summoned due to cast speed animation limit (after you up the quality) 3) On other skills you can get even less. Firestorm is 7-8 max and we go downhill from there. ( My personal choice for visual clarity but cant use it anymore) 4) You need to cast the skill now non stop, dont use other skills, dont dodge, dont move and just get hit to have 80-70% uptime.... this is just wrong! There are no alternatives to the this skill. I can understand nerfing the skill, but forcing you in to unfun situation is just pure evil. Fix this! Only reason people are still using it because there is nothing else to use. On average you have 2-4 srs up in real fight situation now making it only borderline useless skill. The artwork for Infernalist looks so cool, she shoots the spirits ouf of her hands, like she casts a spell; This would have been so much cooler it's not even a competition, and it would be similar to the first game.
Just let us cast spirits 2 at a time:) Or have them auto summon 2 per second when you are close to enemies, this would fit perfectly with the reservation skill. | |
It's a multifaceted issue.
Solar orb has the potential to be a cool SRS generator -- but its not. 2 restriction. Fusillade winds up being the most potent generator besides flamewall. But if they want to maintain this current implementation of SRS generation -- their damage doesn't warrant the clunkiness. I'd be fine with having a higher SRS limit and having their HP or damage (HP buff would be a damage buff) higher such that you WANT to build cast speed. Kind of like old scions with +staff and a lot of cast speed when there was a 50 limit. I like the multi skill gameplay, but the current version of SRS needs some work. Completely useable, decent chunk of damage, but does not feel overly rewarding to solve the "problems" it has. But there were real performance reasons why they dropped BV and SRS limits back in PoE1. " I personally loathe using fullisade, its extremely clunky for the minion flow, and most of the time it acts very weird when summoning srs. Sometimes its not summoning them at all or summons them all over the place. But I agree SrS in current form is not fun skill at its core. It feels bad. Makes you not want to use it. And even if you do because you have no choice it cant even work at peak of its design due to speed of casting limit on most skills. They have to do anything but not what it is right now. Its just not right. |

It's really silly that I have to just spam level 1 flame wall to get spirits going without draining my mana entirely.
If they wanted to nerf the per cast in the early game why not have the summon per cast scale with level until 5 per cast at level 20 with 10 spirits maximum (so start at 1 and just +1 at gem levels 5, 10, 15, 20)? |

Changing POE1 Raging Spirits from a self cast skill to a Spirit reservation skill triggered by casting a Fire skills in POE2 was in and off itself, a stupid, unnecessary change. Seriously, why? Spec'ing into minions, any self cast fire skill to trigger the spirits, is a zero DPS fire skill. Spec'ing into skills, triggering the spirits is a zero DPS minion.
And as bad as the 0.1 implementation of Raging Spirits was, GGG saw fit to make it worse in 0.2 by gutting the Raging Spirit spawn count from 5 to 2 per cast. Raging Spirit was not that good before this change, and now it's worse. This is yet more re-imagining of something in POE1 that was perfectly fine, changing it for nothing more than the sake of change, and making it worse. |

I've tried using them in the best case scenario and they're still very mediocre.
I have ~15 second uptime with raging spirits having invested in skill and minion duration nodes (for empowered zombies). The spirits are just weak in general. The effort to get 12 of them up (6 casts) every 15 seconds is too high/frequent, plus their cumulative damage isnt even that great. You're better off just summoning another persistent minion for the same or less cost and freeing up your attention span altogether. Raging spirits is basically garbage now. |

i always found the new srs weird, i guess its just because im used to the old one..
But i dont see the problem here, if there is a max limit doesnt mean you must be able to reach the limit on every build. Maybe there will be uniques or something in the future or other support gems. Its basically just an aura that gives a bit of damage |
