Banned for "Third Party Software" on April 6 – Possible False Positive

Hello,

I was banned on April 6, 2025 with the reason "Third Party Software."

I’ve only used Path of Building 2 and PoE Overlay, using it solely to check item prices. I’ve never used any tools else. Several others I know, who used the same tools in the same way, was banned at the exact same time.

Being banned by an automated system like this honestly feels quite disheartening, especially as someone who has always played fairly and supported the game.

I’ve submitted an appeal already. I fully understand it takes time, but I hope the review can be prioritized if possible — I really hope to return soon.

Thank you.

Hi! Could you please contact us at support@grindinggear.com and we'll be able to provide you with some additional information.
I've already sent the details via email.
I’d really appreciate it if the review could be expedited, if possible.
Thank you.
Unless GGG manages to catch up on hard support requests, you're probably looking at months for a possible positive resolution.

Out of curiosity, were you using any third party tool to force wider resolutions than natively supported? I ask only because people using it a month or two ago got warnings (it was done using a tool that also allows more nefarious cheating), but is something less technical users might not realize was problematic.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
That would be unfortunate if it really takes that long.
I genuinely hope GGG can review this more urgently, as I strongly believe it was caused by an automated system — and several fair players seem to have been affected.

As for your question: I’ve only used the two programs I mentioned — PoE Overlay (just for price checking) and PoB2 (for planning builds). They’ve always been more than enough for me.
I only played this game for 3 days and was also banned. My character level is even only level 40, and I have not used any third-party software. I think this is a very irresponsible behavior of the game company.

Sorry to hear that.
Out of curiosity, what time did your ban happen?
If it was around April 6, it might be related to the automated system — like in my case and others.

even before poe2's unexpected success crushed support ban appeals were slow. Support seems to have caught up on simple things (presumably those that are a few clicks by support on an admin page); but anything complex is still backlogged by months (look for complaint threads here).

Thanks for the information.

It's honestly discouraging when you're trying to play the right way and still flagged.

I did see someone on Reddit say they got unbanned in 2 weeks... (In case of Third party software banned).
But that still feels like a long time. Hopefully it won't take that long this time.
I’ve just received the final decision from GGG: my account will remain permanently banned for allegedly violating Section 7 of the Terms of Use.

Throughout my time here, I have always played fairly.
I’ve also spent time and supported this game because I love it.

However they still couldn’t offer a sincere or specific explanation — just a generic template response.

That’s why this decision is deeply disappointing — especially for someone who has always tried to follow the rules and play with integrity.

Wishing all of you the best of luck.
