Option to hide spam comments/block users on forum ?

I don't want to see the spam comments about cats cluttering up the discussions.

The first comment under the WHAT WE ARE WORKING ON announcement is this nonsense.

I used to think nothing of it but it's honestly on every busy comment thread and actively disincentivises browsing or participation. I feel strongly enough about it now to make a new thread about it.

It is spam and should be moderated as such. I should not have to report as spam.

It requires installing a browser extension, but there is an unofficial way of blocking other users;
