32:9 support

I stopped playing around a month and a half ago when I finished last league. I used a mod that was for Path of Exile 1 and 2 to allow for 32:9 support on my monitor. Mods are apparently now considered cheating, is there official support for 32:9 on GGG's roadmap? If not, why?

Most every game I've played either has 32:9 support or allows mods to easily unlock it, unless the game is overtly meant to be PVP competitive and ultrawide is seen as too strong of an advantage, but even that is a real stretch. There's not really a competitive aspect to this game, I just play it alone or with friends.

I don't see a compelling reason to forbid ultrawide, unless there's some specific scenario or competitive mode in the works. Even in that case, games can enforce the black bars in that opt-in mode.

Grim Dawn supports super-ultrawide natively. Call of Duty supports it natively. Many games support it natively or with mods. This game supported it fine.

GGG doesn't want players to be immersed and enjoying the game with their 1000$ monitors.

Main reason why. Like a handful of racers/players used it to gain a very slight advantage. So they decided no one could enjoy them. They are actively forcing people to a 16:9 aspect ratio in races, trying to pretend this game is competitive.

Your choices are to play, and get burn in. Or to quit. Doesn't seem like they plan on supporting the aspect ratio. It makes too many of their loyal wallets upset.

I have a 49” ultra wide running 3440x1440 and game looks great. Think you are just being picky. Not that many people have what we have and GGG is justified in not officially supporting it. Open a whole can of worms for what, less than 10% of the player base? And what % of them even care?

They already can’t stay on top of existing issues with Nvidia crashes across both games.. No way they are going to create more video related problems just to placate a small minority of players.

And what burn in? Been playing poe1 on ultra wide for years. Turn on your monitors anti burn in feature and set it to run screen cleaning whenever it goes into sleep mode. E z. This isnt 2008 plasma tv era.

It seems like it'd be pretty easy to just force them to play in 16:9/21:9 to be considered eligible for a speedrun competition which wouldn't affect 99.9999% of players? I've no idea what you're even talking about with "racers", but like I said, you can limit it in a competitive mode.

I think the venn diagram of "people who spend $1000+ on a nice monitor" and "people who buy premium stash tabs and skins" overlaps a lot, so it seems rather silly to leave money on the table by being unkind.

That's really disappointing. I guess I'll play the new league a little bit and then go back to playing other games if it's bothersome.

Anyone that gives it 20 seconds of thought realizes it doesn't make sense. They claim it's also due to a server serialization issue, but I believe it should be up to the player to make that choice. The choice to limit races to 16:9 and call people cheaters though show it's got an ulterior motive.

I'm assuming that in order to unlock 32:9 resolutions, it's... not very difficult? Given that some random people in the community created a mod to unlock it?

I'm not asking for extensive mod support, I'm asking to use my monitor's native resolution.

Monster Hunter Wilds is pretty fun! It needed a mod and it was running poorly without other mods in REFramework.

I've also picked up FragPunk and The Finals on Steam, both of which are explicitly competitive first-person shooters that, unsurprisingly, support 32:9 resolutions with no mods installed lol.

Ah, that's good. I love MHW too. You should try doom :)

I love it on mine. Looks sooo good. And that game is very optimized, you should get great FPS in it.

+1 Please allow 32:9 aspect ratio. My G95SC needs it. I can play 32:9 in Last Epoch officially. Why GGG can't allow the same? Game looks amazing. It's not PVP.
