Continuous "Network Spikes" Despite Stable Connection. Solved Sorta Updated at bottom
I'm no longer able to play PoE 1 or 2. While stats are displayed after hitting F1 the "Network: x MS" while functioning normally is stable between 24-26MS. However, randomly between instantly - 30 minutes of gameplay the issue will start. Once the issue begins rarely returns below 30ms and will jump to the 2,000ms sometimes holding upwards of 10,000-100,000ms.
The part that is most confusing part is the spikes of Network will occur during spell animations then return after cast is complete. If it's a large pack of mobs will only return if pack dies or player dies. All inputs are still being played with some thought you can fight the Mob/Mobs blind and once complete game will race through all the animations that occurred from the freeze to "live". Lowering graphic settings has - No effect. Downloaded lasted Network driver - No effect. Reverted Video Driver to GeForce Game Ready Driver 560.94 | Windows 11. - No effect. Redownloaded Most Recent Video driver With Nvidia App - No Effect. Turned off all Local Firewalls - Windows Security and setup bypasses for PoE - No Effect. Fresh Windows install downloading Steam client instead of Stand Alone - No Effect. From what I can tell is that particular area's are worse then others. PoE 2 Vaal Factory Map Appears to be the worst offender. However, even the worse areas On a fresh reboot or launch of the game I can get 5-10 minutes into the map before issues start to progress downhill. I'm able to screenshare in discord while PoE is Struggling and friends are able to watch as the game just appears to be paused. I'm also able play other MMORPG's while PoE is stuck at 100,000MS. Other games run fine. Running a Speed test @ https://www.speedtest.net while the issues are going to the server in Fairfax, VA closest I can find to Washington DC reports Download: 867.34 Mbps Upload: 949.80 Mbps Idle Latency: 27 - Download Latency: 27 - Upload Latency: 94. Task Manager Reports GPU 60% CPU 40% Memory 46% Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Ram: 32 GB MotherBoard: MEG X570 Unify GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 2700 Super Network Provider: Segra Windows 11 Version 24h2 for x64 I'm hard stuck endgame for PoE 2 because this will either cause deaths or crash the client both result in the map closing. So I end up without "Map Return." Any Fixes would be greatly appreciated. 1-30 minutes I am able to run freeze free is amazing. -------------------------------------------------------- So I finally found a work around thanks to Niti#6535: "To Everyone who has a networking issue even though their internet is stable, get a vpn choose a server that matches the poe2 server gateway" In my case the closest I need to find to Washington DC Gateway. I First used Hotspot Shield as a free unlimited data for about 20 mins. It seemed stable however I could only connect to VPN to New York however stable resulted in around 200ms consistently. Not ideal but playable. I spoke with some friends and one of them had a spare Norton 360 Key. I've now been using the Norton 360 VPN for a few hours it jumps between 26ms and 200ms but its entirely playable. However the last hour has been the most stable at 27ms with no spikes. If this is the exact issue your having I hate VPN'S however it seems like a solid work around for the time being. It does create other minor issues like the occasionally crashing I think I've had 2 in the past 3 hours and its only during zone changes. I hope this helps people!! I am having this exact issue as well, almost word for word what Kappa said, and I have also done extensive troubleshooting to no avail. PoE2 is basically unplayable for me because of this.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 6 7600X GFX: PNY RTX 4060ti RAM: 32GB ISP: Home Telecom, 1gbps fiber SSD: Crucial P3 Plus M.2 4TB Windows 11 24H2 x64 (KB5053656) Latest Nvidia drivers I have also attempted everything Kappa attempted to no effect. All my other games run fine with no connection issues. |

I'm also having that issue. Whenever a boss seems to attack, there is a buffer from the time the attack animation starts and ends. It creating a issue where I can't respond to any attacks with any accurate. The connection is fine, it feels like the server is processing too many actions at once and rolling back just like fighting games.
On top of that, the Act 1 boss attacks aren't even rendering properly anymore. I'm dying from invisible attacks now. I never had this specific problem at launch. |
