Improve Crossbow Ammo Fluidity
Would like to see the Crossbow's fluidity between using the different ammos improved. Currently it feels clunky and slow to switch between the different bolt types, especially if you're just looking to do a one-off shot with something like High Velocity Rounds after using Armor Piercing Rounds.
I think the main reason it feels clunky is because of having to pick between reloading and using another skill. It's the only weapon with mandatory action down-time in order to keep using half of it's skills. I still like the concept of reloading, but it's current form makes it too clunky compared to the fluidity of the other weapons. An idea I had to potentially improve this would be to allow use of other skills during the reload period without interrupting the reload and also splitting the ammo types into Light types (such as Armor Piercing Rounds) and Heavy types (such as High Velocity Rounds) with their own reloading windows. That way you can build to either switch between Light/Heavy ammo clips with minimal interruption or be able to fill the reload window with grenade tosses. Thinking on it, would need to probably add some other mechanic adjustments to make a Light/Heavy ammo system work... would need to have reload timers shared across all ammos of the same type with a cooldown like timer, UI to display the ammo's reloading timer, and would also need to make it so switching to an ammo not currently in reload state is instant. Might be a bit finicky, but think it could add a fun rhythm to the gameplay of the weapon.

I thought about a possible solution, which is to make crossbow 1 handed weapons, so you would need to have 2 of them for maximum efficiency
This way you could have different ammos in each crossbow if you want too, you could also choose between shooting with both crossbows at the same time, or 1 at a time without needing to stop shooting but doing less dps, i think this could create an interesting gameplay Theres a game called "my friend pedro", and basically, it allows you to shoot at 2 opposite directions of your choice at the same time, and i'd love to see something like that in an arpg |
