What's all the fuss about with the nerfs?

I for one am excited to play PoE2 "for the first time" again. New league, new skills/characters/supports/weapon, and a whole new world of balance.

Then again, I also played crossbow and chronomancer to 90 and both are getting buffed lol. Isn't that meta crap boring the hell out of you?

The atlas is gonna be so much better too, and we can have a pet with auras/shocked ground/slow aura! And much better crafting! I can't wait for the patch!

I'm with you! Really excited to feel like you actually need to earn your way in the game. Also very much looking forward to an actual challenge, maybe? One-shotting pinnacle bosses is genuinely equal parts awesome and incredibly boring.

The sheer length of the patch notes shows that the devs are putting in sweat equity with this league. Here's to hoping for some real build diversity and balance!

Most people in any game will always complain about nerfs, especially when it's clear that at least 50% of them are done on whims alone; no one testing that....except us, guess Early Access doing it's purpose.

But POE players, now there's a special breed. The most avid haters of nerfs are POE 1 players. Whenever the mere mention of "nerf" occurs, to them the game is dead....beyond salvation.

Most of it is just people being over dramatic, and part of them are just frustrated at GGG's stubbornness (they cannot admit that they have no idea how to balance their games).
I welcomed nerfs and changes. I will say though some changes don't make sense to me. Eldritch battery doubles mana cost? I will be shocked if this nerf isn't way over the top. The whole point of this node is sacrificing ES for mana. Now it's a trade off with a giant downside.

It's tricky to find that delicate balance. Too much balance and it's just as boring as no balance. You need the right amount of power reward for players who invest in the grind, but not enough to break the entire game. I don't envy that responsibility, as it's never perfect and no way to make everyone happy.

Dev-work is a mostly-thankless job, so I give them a lot of credit for being willing to try; being willing to risk breaking things is the only way you can really hope to fix anything. A lot of other game studios don't even try these days, so I admire the effort by GGG, for the most part.

Truth.

I will add tho, when you get such limited tries at something, sometimes one-shot is a necessary solution from the player.

I like difficulty but in the spirit of soulslike, give the player unlimited retries with a "cool down", not something you can try once every 2 or 3 hours.

This I agree with. Making something notably difficult and limiting the attempts is a little much.

Instead of nuking the last 3 meta builds they should have buffed other builds to be on par with spark/stat stacking.

Now those are nerfed so we are stuck again with 3 meta builds.

We could have had six meta builds. But again we are just stuck with everyone playing 3 classes.
