Came back for a little PoE 2 today

After not logging in for months I decided why not. Was bored with Elden Ring.

Played for a total of 2 hours I think. Maybe not even. Was AFK most of the time.

Immediately noticed I could not spam my abilities. Oh right. Totally forgot I had this one skill I was supposed to spam over everything else I'd rather use. Remember when they forced everyone to use Heavy Strike in PoE 1? Me neither.

Then I roll a mercenary. Didn't do that in early days of EA. Then I leave the town in A1 and on a controller can not for the life of me get the merc to shoot the witch summoning and resummoning mobs. Maybe I'm just not good at this.

That was when I decided to log out and log back in on a warrior. But the game froze instead.

I think I need some PoE 1 to purge the bad taste in my mouth right now.

poe2 is at least one year away from being enjoyable and closer to two years away from a "full" release.

I'll give it a shot on friday for that Aviendha Far Dareis Mai roleplay fantasy but I don't expect to go further than early red maps.

Pretty sure I heard that Deuce is so far from a "full release" that it doesn't even have swords. Not. Even. Curved. Swords.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's pretty whack for an ARPG. =0[.]o=

Problems with targeting on a controller are pretty common for obvious reasons. Also, you spent most of your time AFK? Probably not the best way to get the full game experience, but hey, you do you.

This post leaves me wondering about many things.

Problem is beyond not ready. The fundamentals of combo-based combat approach leaves a lot to be desired. People want button mashing combat. Not oh I press this when this happens and that when that happens.

Modern WoW is probably the best example of this here. Classic WoW is more popular and what do people do in Classic WoW? Spam shadow bolt.

The best games ever made like Terraria for instance have a single weapon slot you use through most of the game.

I don't believe they are going to change this. It's rooted deeply in PoE 2. For that reason PoE 2 is like Retail WoW and PoE 1 is Classic WoW.
challenging the player to point to certain directions and pressing the right buttons at the right time to trigger combos is the only challenge there is for controllers cause you can´t aim with the mouse from your sofa.

we are mortal combat now, pc games are dead. only old gamers with alot of money still play pc games. those who can´t afford a proper pc cause the budget only allowed a cheap shitty console are the main focus group now.

You can pick specific items off the ground with a controller on PoE 1.

Why can't you pick specific enemies with the controller in PoE 2?

It's possible. Definitely should be implemented for Merc play to be enjoyable on a controller.

i totally agree.

and i wouldn´t want that for controllers only, i would also want to enable that for keyboard/mouse players as well by making the autotargeting feature an option.

it´s hilarious for mouse players to use the mouse to only point to a certain direction for the sake of controller compatibility (or what they think it is).

Yeah tab targeting would be good too.

nope, i want the skill to hit where my mouse points to.

i want to cleverly place totems.

i want back the old strategy of tornado shot to better aiming behind the rare monster to do more damage with the secondary projectiles.

i want clever playstyles, not clicking tab to target the next enemy and then press my skill button "to dead the monster" (sorry for the infantile speech like "i droppped an orb").

i want a game where a simple ai tool or a script runner isn´t superior to 90% of the gamers playing it.

i want a game which challenges your intelligence and forces you to learn something.

btw: learning skill combos is so "last millenium", i´m not fascinated
