[Crash] Windows 10, every renderer. Every 5 to 10 minutes.
Game crash every 5 to 10 minutes, often time while moving around the map or transition into new zone.
Upon checking log file after my last crash, this log appears at the end: " Crash happened on both DX11, DX12 and Vulkan. Not every crash present the same log. In fact there is no extra log after what I do in the game before crashing. After running packcheck, the game still crashes soon after launch. Crash is straight shutdown, no pop-up or post-crash notice so there is no error code or extra information I can provide other than what shown in Client.txt.

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 19045) (19041.vb_release.191206-1406) BIOS: 1805 (type: UEFI) Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700K (28 CPUs), ~3.4GHz Memory: 32768MB RAM Card name: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Current Mode: 2560 x 1440 (32 bit) (59Hz) I played without any issue on the same setup both hardware and software until 2 leagues ago (to the end of first Settler). 2 things changed since then was a BIOS update and limiting my CPU clock to reduce heat. Both was done in attempt to fix similar crashes in PoE2. Last edited by epicfredo#7259 on Apr 1, 2025, 7:34:09 PM Last bumped on Apr 3, 2025, 4:22:57 PM

" Both nvgpucomp64.dll and nvwgf2umx.dll are part of the Nvidia driver for your video card. Which driver version are you currently using? " Due to the nature of the file, KERNELBASE.dll often gets cited in such crashes despite not itself being at fault. It's typically considered an inconclusive result. " We're back to that Nvidia file again... Based on the information provided, the most likely culprits are - in no particular order - 1) an unstable driver release, 2) a damaged driver installation, and, 3) a hardware-level video card fault such as an unstable overclock. This is perhaps unsurprising, due to the 40-series and 50-series cards having encountered stability issues with recent driver releases from Nvidia. " Are you sure it's the same Nvidia driver? Is your system configured for Nvidia driver updates to be installed manually or automatically? "VPs are not required to change their posting style. " Which setting(s) did you change to modify your CPU? I'm curious whether it is perhaps now clocked less aggressively, but is no longer getting adequate voltage for that lower clock speed, which is possible depending on what you changed. We can't currently rule out that something went bad when the CPU's settings were adjusted, and that minor instability occasionally results in it sending invalid data to the GPU driver, crashing it. " NVdia driver should be a newer version since I did attempt to update it to see if it help with PoE2, it was 1 week after early access release so I am not sure if that version of driver have the instability or not. There is a newer version I have yet to update released by March 18. About driver version:

" It is just lower maximum clockspeed through Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, lower both performance core ratio (from 55x) and efficient core ratio (from 43x) to 40x (4GHz maximum). CPU is not undervolted since limiting clock speed is already enough to stabilize the temperature, plus I don't want to risk system crashing. Plus this tool from intel does not allow undervolt and BIOS is not touched, other than when I do BIOS update (which I did update in attempt to stabilize PoE2 as mentioned before). Nothing about GPU is modified in BIOS or software. With your insight I would do some research and see if it worth updating to new driver version or if there is known stable version in the archive to replace with. Hopefully it will help, but the result may come in a later date as I am not actively playing the game, and there is other personal matters to attend to at this moment in time. Thanks for the input. sounds like a corrupted nvidia driver install to me.
there are cleaner tools available which completely remove drivers. also, sometimes it´s also worth considering to not install the latest gpu driver. --- personally, i wouldn´t lower the gpu clock for a game. you paid alot of money for the performance of your current card and it should work with the performance promised. if there are problems with heat in your rig, fix it with better cooling and more fans. and consult your gpu´s spec on how much heat is within the specification. sorry, if you did all that already :) age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
