Portals tied to revives

The most recent update on POE 2, portals would be tied to the number of revives that you have remaining. Exiting and entering alone doesn't consume a portal.

This would be a nice change for POE 1 as well, honestly. It would stop the 'accidental' portal consumption problem when you enter a map/boss area, accidentally click the portal, and end up back in the hideout with one less portal. And if you're down to a single portal it doesn't limit you on looting. (More of an SSF thing, but I've left stuff behind due to this before)

It honestly wouldn't be just good for SSF as I'm sure many trade players would be happy to leave the map for a trade more often.
While at it they could also introduce the reduced amount of portals depending on the difficulty as it would be a neat endgame change and spicy it a bit up in the current mediocre state.

Either a bad April fool or you didn't even read op's feedback regarding PoE 1, not PoE2. =9[.]9=
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.
I also think tying portals to revives is better, but PoE1 would need few other designs from PoE2 as well to make it work. Namely bosses need to be fought in one go, with all escape methods resetting the fight and consuming a portal. And I would support this change.

yeah this good be nice to be able to leave maps to trade, also if they added revive inside map would spare us some seconds
the problem is that most endgame maps have not been made to be done with a single portal, mobs damage and mods have been adjusted for 6 portals and the damage is super spiky in endgame compared to poe2. If they wanted to do that, they would need to nerf all the endgame. nerfing endgame would break all the game. Its perfect right now and doesnt need change. They have found a solution tho for those who dont like it and its called POE2. If you cant afford to lose a single portal because your map is too hard then maybe consider adjusting the difficulty or your maps. The other option is to just wait until you die to do the trade, sounds balanced to me.I dont see the issue here

Did you mean to say "players would need to adjust their builds to not die in maps"? :D

Joking aside, GGG is not a fan of "6-portals defence mechanics" as a feature. Not saying they will change that for PoE1, but it is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Unless I've been hallucinating I think GGG mentioned years ago that they want a limit on looting so that you have to prioritize what you bring back from maps.

Must have been a group hallucination, because I have a vague memory of it as well. I think GGG was worried players would start looting the whole map, and it would be unfun. I think this was when maps did not have other good objectives other than map sustain.
