Corrupted exiles are just reskinned treasure goblins.

I think they made the NPC exiles so there is some PvP feeling to the game.

However these NPC exiles will be trivialized and will be just another mob to one shot.

Game needs real PvP.

I'd like PvP too, hopefully they bring it one down the line.
From what I've seen though it's not too popular in arpg's outside of small niche communities and always seems to fall by the wayside

If GGG say they are gonna be a challenge, you can be sure they will be. That's good if you can one shot them, but be sure you dont get one shot by them too. Some exiles in POE1 were insanely dangerous.

how do you balance pvp when everyone can 1 shot eachother and 1/2 the builds can do it before seeing the opponent on their screen?

Yeah I can tell you never played PoE1 or at least long enough to encounter them, there's even an unique map full of them, it's very challenging. These are much more fun to kill than loot goblins.

Balance sure, this would probably be a problem but 1 shoting each other before seeing each others can be remedied partially with PvP-only damage reduction, just like in Diablo 2.

Xandro aside, I still have PTSD from Igna. They were brutal af.

my one was xandro, he murdered my ass then i remade the zone and he was in that one too. got half excited the lower his hp then the attacks.... they fkn SPED UP BRUH. he turned into a machine gun ground slammer of doom, he even looked like something from hell

Rogue Exiles are one of the best parts of POE 1 (I am also an OG Invasion league appreciator). As mentioned above, a few of them brought genuine fear to the hearts of players before player power progressed to the point it is at, now.

Xandro, Igna Phoenix, even Anemina. Igna could be downright terrifying.

Some of them were always pushovers (we once had a hilarious bug where just about every Exile encounter was Torr Olgosso).


The point is that we shouldn't expect that these encounters will be easy. They likely will be once you have accumulated a lot of power, but early on these encounters might be rather difficult.

I like that they will portal out to (somewhat) prevent another player coming to dispose of them for you.


Exiles in POE1 provided a guaranteed source of rarer item slots, but were nothing like loot goblins. Being able to carry one or more uniques may make them more interesting, but as stated in the interview it will be rather rare for them to have very many.

I would say that Exiles as we know them are nothing like loot goblins in Diablo or - even worse - the loot lizard pinatas in Last Epoch. They won't even be as outrageous as the nemesis system in Last Epoch, which imo trivializes campaign progression while at least having more legitimate fights to obtain the loot.

Never done d2 pvp so not sure how it works. Using lightning dmg, my main abilities lowest hit is 15k, and my highest crit is 1.5-3mil how would that get balanced against a character with 3-12k EHP? does the 15k become nothing? is a 3 million crit still a 1shot? (also a doryani build so making my enemies lightning res -200% is the basis.)
