Crashes when watching Youtube or Twitch videos on second monitor
Whenever running Path of Exile 1 in one monitor and watching a Twitch or Youtube video in the other monitor, my computer will randomly freeze. This happens after anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 hours of playing with a video in the second monitor. When my computer freezes in this way, there is no bluescreen, but the mouse and keyboard stop responding, Ctrl-Alt-Del does nothing, all video on my screens freezes, and the game audio stops except for the game's background music, which, oddly, continues indefinitely. All other game audio, such as sound effects, stops. When I waited and tested how long the music kept playing, the Path of Exile background music continued playing for over 15 minutes before I decided that it would probably keep doing that indefinitely and restarted the computer. The audio from Youtube or Twitch continues to play for about 10-30 seconds before stopping, as if it were able to play the part of the video that was buffered. The only recourse after these crashes is to restart the computer with the power button. This crash has happened to me 9 times over the course of the last 3 weeks, which is when I first installed Path of Exile.
My theory is that Path of Exile somehow uses the same video card resources as browser video playback. I use DirectX 12 as, despite my computer's fairly okay specs and the fact that this is an 11 year old game, the other two options cause severe framerate stuttering for me whenever many particles are rendered on-screen. I am running Windows 10 Home, build 19045. My video card is an AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT. I have an up to date video driver, version 22.40.51.05-230420a-391252C-AMD-Software-Adrenalin-Edition I have 3 monitors: - A widescreen Samsung S24D300 monitor which serves as my main monitor on which I play games, including Path of Exile - A fullscreen Acer V193 monitor which serves as a secondary monitor to the side, on which I was watching videos during the crashes - A widescreen TV which is an Insignia 42-D510NA15, which is only sometimes turned on. The output of my widescreen Samsung monitor is mirrored to this TV so that I can use the computer from the couch. Based on this support thread I seem to not be the only one experiencing this issue, which seems to occur with both Path of Exile and Path of Exile 2. My dxdiag.txt file is here.
