Verisium Ore Event did not finish

Maxed out a Verisium event on Coves T16. After starting the event I click on a sulphite deposit which spawned a tormented spirt. The spirt possessed one of the verisium elites. Event never finished with the miners portaling in. I cleared the full map just to be certain.

after looking at my town map it looks like the ore did get marked for mining just no visual

Were you roughly a screen away or more when you killed the last mob of the ore? I'm not sure what it does visually, but it will cause you to get no ore. Not sure why there is a range limitation, but something to keep in mind if you were.
