Chilled ground not applying - Elementalist
I used to be able to apply chill through chilled ground, but now it no longer gets applied to enemies.
I'm not sure if this is what caused it, but I redid my ascendancy selections to try a different build that utilized the chilled branch of the tree (Shaper of Winter/Heavy Winter) and noticed the change sometime after when I refunded those nodes. I saw there were some other bugs relating to chilled ground with damage converting effects such as Three Dragons, so maybe it somehow related? Last bumped on Mar 27, 2025, 12:09:59 PM

I haven't been using Three Dragons, so I don't have personal experience with it beyond reading the related threads. This was reported as a bug back in December and may not have been addressed or clarified.
How is your character producing chilled ground? Is it a guaranteed effect such as with Frostbolt, or is it conditional such as when freezing enemies with Frost Nexus support? Did it previously work with or without allocating Shaper of Winter? While Three Dragons will prevent you from chilling enemies with cold damage, you would expect to still be able to apply unconditional ailments through chilled ground and shocked ground. It was argued that ignited/burning ground might not work because it is applied as if it were caused by a hit (e.g. Flame Wall). When allocating Shaper of Winter or Shaper of Storms, you would expect to still be able to apply chill or shock, respectively, from other damage types that are not prevented by the helmet mods. It has, however, been reported that chilled ground doesn't apply a slow when wearing Three Dragons, despite the chill not having anything to do with applied damage. The unique's modifiers were updated in Patch 0.1.1f to clarify that cold damage could not contribute to freeze build-up, but I'm not sure that GGG has commented on the concerns about elemental ailments being disabled that are applied through other means. | |
Chill ground need to be bufed anyway. Only 10% slow the enemies is nothing. It should be 30% slow movement and 8 sec cold exposure and of course permanent extinguish the burned ground in juiced mas.

I am applying chilled ground using Frostbolt, so it is a guaranteed source of chilled ground.
I know the ground is rendered in the environment as my Eye of Winter triggers off of it, but the slow is definitely not appling. I haven't had a chance to confirm if frost nexus would apply the chill effect, but my character relied on chilling enemies for safety so now I die on my maps way more frequently. |

I have tried frost nexus now and can say it also doesn't apply chill.
Hopefully there is some bug here that is fixed in 0.2.0. |
