My Game Keeps Crashing

Hey,

As title says- my game keep crashing.

I'm on act 1 of PoE2. The game was running fine for 2-3 hours. I got to the part where am doing the Obelisk of Rust and I was playing the boss where my game would crash quite often, and it was getting more consistent.

My drivers are up to date. I tried dlss4, I tried DX11, and Vulkan. At this point game was crashing very often.
Went back to DX12 and enabled vsync.
Game worked for 30 minutes thereabouts before a crash. This was the latest crash I had, giving up for tonight.

I'd get different error messages such as, "vk::Device::waitForFences:ErrorDeviceLost" and something about different types of textures not loading. I don't remember off the top of my head but I do remember one of them being a glove texture.

Any help?

Have a 4070ti and 14700k. I don't think the problem is my computer. Other games work fine.
I do understand this game is early access but, is there any fix to the constant crashing?

i see you have a 13/14th gen intel. did it start happening after the 0x12b microcode bios update?

that was my case and i made it stop by changing one setting in the bios.
"cpu lite load" from [normal] to [intel's default]
if your motherboard is from MSI.

disregard if motherboard isnt from MSI and/or it didnt start happening after bios update.
what is your CPU? how many cores does it have? I've had a similar issue and I solved it by reducing the number of cores that the game can use. My cpu has 32 cores and limit the cores that the game can use to 8. i've experimented with various number of cores and looks like 8 is the max at which game does not crash.

the way to limit the number of cores is to right click on "PathOfExile.exe" from task manager -> details page. then click "set affinity", uncheck "all processors", then check only 8 of them (i usually level CPU 0 unchecked and check CPU 1 to 8)

you should after you start the game, but before you click "play" from the character selection screen.
I just saw that you posted your cpu model 14700k. it definitely has more than 8 cores. pls try the solution i suggest, let me know. i am curious if this helps.

I use a 7950x3d. 16 cores 32 threads with no significant problems. I've run POE 2 without core parking enabled and had the same level of stability.

Wonder if this is an Intel vs AMD thing then?

go to power plan, change it to power saver, thank me later
Thanks for the responses, everyone!
I'll be trying these things today.

@teksuoPOE#2987 - I do have an MSI motherboard. All drivers are up to date as of a few days ago, and I just started playing PoE2 about 3 or 4 days ago. Played very litte then, perhaps 90minutes and had a couple crashes.
Played last night for 3 hours roughly, and had a lot of crashes.
I couldn't say that the crashes started happening with 0x12b as I've just recently started playing, but I do have that microcode installed. I will try your solution after I try the others.

@mostanio77#1031 - thanks. Should I apply this each time that I boot PoE2?

@ba4m3t#3486 - thanks, I'll try this now as its the most simplest solution to do, hopefully it fixes the issue.
Yes unfortunately you have to apply that every time you start POE.
Just played for near 2 hours and no crash. Am pretty sure the problem for me was running Afterburner.

Thanks again everyone for your help. I'm hoping there'll be no more crash issues but if so, I have a couple of references to look at!
