Lag issues when trying to trade

The game seems to be working fine, up until I try and trade. People can't join me and I struggle to join them and even if i do, it takes an age to do anything. Anyone else having this issue, if so what could it be? Did a speed check on my internet and everything is fine, nothing else seems to be affected only when I join someone else or they join me.
