Infinite ping upon changing areas/instances
I have had this problem since the start of the settlers league but it has become so much worse now with the Phrecia event.
The problem is as follows, every time i swap to a new area the game has a high chance of just jacking my ping up infinitely causing me to have to relog to be able to can play again. This happens randomly and sometimes i can load 4 areas without it happening at all but at the same time sometimes this can happen multiple times in a row. On average i relog about 40+ times in an hour just to can play! ______________________________________________________________________________ Things to note. ______________________________________________________________________________ I have been running the game on this hardware for a while and it has never presented such issues same with the internet. When in a party with friends even when my latency shoots to 20000+ my movements still come through without any delay on their ends, i can even claim waypoints this way as well as use abilities and die! All other games i play present no problems or packetloss of any kind and this happens only in path of exile. Once more this only really started happening since the settlers launch and has become much worse with Phrecia. Also the game never crashes from this or times out, it performs smoothly and i can freely zoom in and out and when not on lockstep move around and use abilities as well yet it is like i am purely visually timed out on my end. ______________________________________________________________________________ Things i have tried. ______________________________________________________________________________ 1. I have tested this with plenty of the servers and it seems it does not matter which one i am on at all. 2. I have tested it with a VPN it made no difference. 3. I have tried both the Steam client and the standalone one it also made no difference. 4. I have done a clean install of windows 11 which also made no difference. 5. I have run the game at all possible settings it also made no difference. 6. I have swapped between lockstep and predictive and surprise it also made no difference. I am really at the end of my rope here since this is the only game presenting problems like this and my internet is perfectly fine and is running well. If anyone or a Dev has a solution to this i am all ears but at this point the game is turning into a relog simulator for me. Last bumped on Mar 1, 2025, 2:13:38 PM

I have the exact same issue and have also tried all of the potential solutions that you have listed. My ping rises infinitely at a linear rate until I eventually log out and this happens more often than not.
Things that I want to echo: * I started experiencing this during Settlers * It only happens in PoE and PoE2, although it is significantly less frequent in PoE2. * I don't experience any lag while playing the game when I get a successful connection to the instance. It really makes the game unplayable. |

Bump. Spent countless hours trying to get through Merc lab, but I cannot make it through without encountering this issue.

same here, i restarted to play in november 2024, and the game was without any problems . And since aprox Phrecia update, it has become unplayable, latency or ping or whatever spiking in full green, regurarly for more than 10 sec, the character usually can move just actions like stash opening, item manipulation map opening are frozen. It started mainly in hideout location, and in last days the maps are doing it also. So there was a clear pattern of downhill performace.
Other games and internet havent witnessed any such problem, everything goes like normal, just poe has become unplayable. Iam connecting through steam, tried some changes, made the WinMtr report(i have sent it to support, from my amateur view it seemed like the problem is not on my side of connection. Europen servers). Somehow iam wondering, if the isuue isnt caused with an item, or some skill tree or another corrupted variable |

so, the support recommmended to do the cache and client files cleaning, and reparing the poe files through steam. I did itm, and seems that the problem is solved.
this thread : https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3072628 seems that it is some combination of item filter + settings tinkering , + maybe some corrupted files etc which ends in rendering the game unplayable through increasing lag. |
